We humans have experienced pain and suffering from illness for as long as the species has existed on this planet.  All forms of droplet-spread infections, to congenital abnormalities, to bacterial and viral exposure has thus called for the existence of healers.  Healers in turn relied upon their knowledge of their environment to bring about the relief of disease by use of botanical means (plants) as well as other influences that were co-dependent on cultural factors.   In short, humans didn’t wait until the early part of the 20th century to start getting sick and thus turn to seek medicine.

In the U.S., Clinical Herbalists, Iridologists, Naturopathic Physicians and Homeopaths face an uphill climb to be seen as a recognized and effective modality of healthcare.  However, our core duty to those who seek the services of Natural Health Professionals encompasses the following responsibilities:

• To educate on the proper usage of natural therapeutics.  Just because it’s natural does not make it safe if used frivolously.
• To educate the difference in the quality of the products being used. Because of the non-regulation of the botanical medicine industry, there exists a vast array of misinformation.  It’s our job to prevent the public from falling victims to these practices.
• To acknowledge the limits of natural therapeutics and seek out allopathic healthcare when appropriate.
